Diary Entry # 12: Flying High, Or, Catch That Bird

March 5, 2005

Dear Diary,

Assignment: Pretend not to notice that two delicious birds are flying all around us in the evenings, inside the house, not outside

Situation: Recently, much to our consternation, loyal owner has been releasing the two delicious parakeets inside the house, just to annoy us, we believe. It is a bad, bad habit of loyal owner. Apparently, all previous training has "flown out the window."

Resolution: Not good. Although I am head of this household, I have found a hiding place beside the loyal owner's seating area when this happens.

Ashley, remaining true to her former racing/hunting greyhound breeding, assumes the hunter attitude, but in a delicately feminine way, of course. So far, she has had us thrown unceremoniously out of the house each time she nips too closely at these two potential flying snacks. This has happened every night this week, thus the lack of diary entries.

We are consulting this afternoon on how we can either devour the two mini-meals in flight, or how we can get this ridiculous ritual ended, once and for all.

Personally, I enjoy chomping on a fleeing possom, rabbit, or other such wild game which happens to enter our two acres, uninvited. Ashley, however, insists that we deserve these tasty in-house tidbits, the sooner the better. Stay tuned. We will have our plan soon.

Sincerely against feathers in my food,

Abel, former Animal Shelter resident, current head of household, best friend of Ashley
