Diary Entry #4, Loyal Owner Is Finally Home
January 21, 2005
Dear Diary,
This has been a very trying eleven days for Abel and I. Not only has loyal owner come and gone at will, we have had to fend for ourselves in the entertainment department.
We thought we had it all sorted out when loyal owner left the garage door open, as well as the kitchen door, so that we could come and go at our leisure. Then, lo and behold, the freedom was snatched from our tender paws one week later.
This week has been one of sleeping, waiting, sleeping, and waiting for loyal owner to arrive home to let us out, as we have demanded time and time again.
Thankfully, we are over the bad weather, so it looks like our weekend will be one of open garage doors once again. I have a feeling that loyal owner will be running the roads again all weekend, but that just leaves more peace and quiet for Abel and I to enjoy.
We had a rather bad day on January 20, when all that was on our large tv screen all day was news, news, news about people and parades, and lots of cheering and waving from somewhere far away. We really like our soaps and our children's programs for ideal sleeping atmosphere.
Thankfully, that day ended finally, and we could get back to the usual tv fare of commercials and people acting silly once again.
This morning started out rather badly also, as loyal owner somehow decided to leave home an hour earlier that we expected...thus forcing us to rise earlier, eat breakfast at the ungodly hour of 5 a.m., and requiring us to be done with our outside chores by 5:30 a.m. This will never do.
We were rewarded with many more sessions of fetch with loyal owner, as the feelings of guilt slowly set in and caused loyal owner to realize the errors in the daily schedule. This was evident in the early arrival home of our private cook and playmate today. That's more like it.
Hopefully, we won't have to be eating before sunup again. For now, we are ready for bed, waiting for loyal owner to stop clicking the computer keys and playing that "backgammon" thing with strangers. The annoying noise is disturbing our early evening nap.
Diary, we may have to call in a people psychologist to analyze the strange behavior of loyal owner to see what is causing this blatant disobedient streak recently.
Signed with bewilderment,
Ashley, sleep-deprived former lady greyhound racer
